Emergency Dentistry Services
At Metuchen Pediatric Dentistry, we understand dental emergencies can be stressful for the child and the entire family. We are aware the child can have tooth injury any time of day. Therefore we recommend establishing dental home at our practice early in life so you can easily access our care in these tough times. Trauma emergencies are most prevalent in two major age groups. These age groups are toddlerhood when child is learning balance, walking, running and teenage years where sport injuries are common. Dental infection related emergencies can be serious and need immediate expert intervention, and we are here to help. In any dental emergency don’t hesitate to call our office.

If your child need urgent care, we respond during office hours and even after hours. We can guide you if treatment can be rendered next day or your child needs emergency treatment. Emergencies can range from tooth pain due to cavity or fracture or accidental situations. We are here for you and will be there in hour of need!

Knocked-Out Tooth
​If part of your child's tooth has fallen out or if the tooth is completely knocked out, this is a pediatric dental emergency. Your child will need to see us the same day. While you are waiting for your dental appointment, rinse your child's mouth with warm salted water and put some pressure on the injury to reduce or stop the bleeding.
Chipped, Cracked, or Fractured Tooth
If your child's tooth is chipped or broken, whether it's a baby tooth or a permanent tooth, it is important to call Metuchen Pediatric Dentistry right away. If it's after business hours and appears severe, go to your nearest hospital emergency room.
Toothache
If your child has a toothache, call us right away. While you are waiting for your appontment, have your child gently rinse their mouth with warm water. Check for food trapped between teeth and use a cold compress to minimize swelling. You may also give over-the-counter pain relievers as needed and as directed by Dr. Sodhi.
Lost Fillings
​If a child loses a filling, call Metuchen Pediatric Dentistry right away. If your child is experiencing pain, use over-the-counter pain relievers as needed and according to the directions of Dr. Sodhi.
Dental Abscess
An pediatric abscessed tooth is an emergency and needs to be treated by right away to prevent the spread infection to other parts of your child's body.
